We know that trees compete. They grow upwards, toward the light, striving to be taller than their neighbors. Yet they also cooperate. They shelter each other. They share nutrients with their roots. They speak with scents. They are interdependent, and part of their interdependence involves animals; we are one of those animals serving the interdependence of trees.
